Summary:
The Facilities Lead Mechanic is responsible for performing highly diversified duties and ensuring that all machinery and equipment is functioning properly and in good operating form. Daily tasks will vary day-to-day based on what needs attention at the time, but frequently includes repairs, aesthetic work or tending to the facility’s machinery. This position is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks in or around the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Facilities Manager in the job assignment and preparation of work schedules for Intermediate Mechanics and departmental General Labor Support Staff.
- Provide the Facilities Manager with a prioritized schedule for shutdown maintenance.
- Assume responsibility for leading the installation, maintenance, and repair of all packing equipment.
- Help lead cold storage maintenance and operations
- Performs Fire system maintenance.
- Perform general cleaning around equipment and keep working area and tools clean and organized.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school graduate with technical school certification or; 3 years of related experience in a maintenance/production environment
- Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, masonry, fabrications, plant layout, painting, janitorial and general cleaning.
- Required to be familiar with and use hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed and be well versed in the disciplines mentioned above.
- Training in HAZMAT, Lock-out Tag-out, and other safety regulations.
- Ability to perform all forms of welding and fabrications is preferred.
- Forklift Certification required.
