Pine Street Bakery is a neighborhood café located in The Heights of Hood River, OR. We specialize in crafting artisanal breads, house-made pastries, delicious sandwiches, and exceptional coffee beverages. We pride ourselves in our commitment to the community by sourcing ingredients from local farmers and providing professional and welcoming customer service to each our customers.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Pastry Baker to join our team. The schedule is Wednesdays- Saturdays – 3am-11am (this is an approximate time. You may have to stay later, it depends on the day/tasks).

Pine Street Bakery is looking for an early riser with a passion for baking rustic American pastries. The ideal candidate would be detail oriented and able to demonstrate consistency in production and finished product. One plus year of professional kitchen experience preferred but PSB is willing to train the right candidate. If you have a passion for baking, that is what we are looking for. Attention to detail and a love for baking are very important qualities that we look for in a candidate.

Wage: $21 to $23/hr. + Benefits. This wage includes tips ($16/hr + $6/hr approx. tips). Tips increase during the busier season.

Requirements:

  • Basic math skills for measuring, mixing, and scaling.
  • Executing established house recipes consistently and in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining an organized and clean workspace and kitchen.
  • The ability to properly communicate with front of house staff as well as back of house production staff.
  • The ability to work as a team.
  • The ability to share workspace.
  • The ability to follow direction from other teammates as well as management.
  • Maintain a positive work environment.
  • The ability to be to work on time and work efficiently.

Detail of responsibilities:

  • Efficient and consistent mixing, forming, proofing and baking of daily bake schedule.
  • Maximize sales by maintaining production numbers.
  • Communicate with bakery Manager.
  • Educate bakery staff about pastry quality and seasonal specials.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of production equipment and work areas.
  • Quality control and culling of unusable product.
  • Reporting equipment and supply deficiencies to the manager.
  • Restocking of ingredients at the end of shifts.
  • Work efficiently and accurately.
  • Pay attention to detail on every aspect of the position.
  • Communicate with all of bakery staff.

Physical Requirements and environmental demands

  • Standing for 100% of the shift worked.
  • Walking up to the equivalent of two miles per shift.
  • Participating in procedures that require a high level of repetitive motion involving the hands, wrists, arms and back.
  • Working with heavy equipment including Hobart mixers, rack ovens and reach-in freezers.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. repeatedly during the course of a shift.
  • Lifting, carrying, and moving products and materials up to 30 lbs. several dozen times in the course of a day.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and safe procedures as outlined in training while performing aforementioned tasks.
