Rhodesian Ridgeback, Black Mouth Cur, and Boerboel “mutt” to rehome. I’ve named him ‘Sir’ short for ‘Sir-Licks-A-Lot.’ It breaks my heart to rehome him. He is intelligent, loving, very affectionate, protective – especially with his deep bark, good with little kids, cats, and other dogs. Has first round of ‘6 way’ shots, and may have second by time he is rehomed. If not, I will send the second set with him. He is 7 months old, and still a puppy, but very calm mannered (except when you get home after being gone, then he, briefly, loses his sh** lol). He is potty trained entirely, a good listener, although he does wander toward the road often, so either a fenced yard, acreage, or a watchful owner is required. He is crate/kennel trained, but loves to snuggle. He knows basic commands and is very intelligent and able to be trained further. Rarely barks, only when strangers or people in general come onto property or knock on door. He has howled like 3 times or so, and out of excitement when I return home. Kinda afraid of water it seems, easily trained with a spray bottle, but timid of rain and will hold his potty till it stops, unless absolutely can’t – then he will go outside, still not inside. I have to rehome him, because my toddler is proving to be more of a cat person, and doesn’t seem to like him or most dogs in general. I’m realizing I don’t have the ability to give him the best quality of life. The people I got him from, pretended to be so in love with him – asking me to send them updates, saying they would check in on him, that they wish they could keep him, and even friending me on Facebook to “see possible photos I would post of him.” They were playing it up, and at least the male of the 2 was very obviously inebriated. Then when I got him home, he displayed obvious signs of having been abused, and the prior owners quickly dropped off the map. They had a lot of dogs, seemingly in it for the breeding and not the companionship. I got him to help me heal from my 2 German shepherds that I lost a year prior to the decision of getting him…  I love him, I just have too much on my plate. He’s a good dog, I want him to go to a good home. A small rehoming fee is the closest I can come to being assured he isn’t being used purely for breeding and/or being abused.
