Job Summary
Camp Counselor is responsible for the instruction of general and/or specialized activities for program participants. Activities include but are not limited to leading group games, sports and athletics, singing songs, arts & crafts, swimming, and field trips. Counselors should be prepared to work outside, in various environmental conditions each week.
This will be a seasonal position held June – August.
Key Responsibilities

Direct supervision of camp participants

Supervise and lead activities throughout the day

Ensure safety during activity

Responsible for keeping all facilities used clean and safe

Cleaning up after activities
-
Making sure a space is safe before leading an activity in it.

Educate campers through games and explorations

Resolve conflicts between children

Inform supervisors about any problems regarding participants, facilities or other.

If necessary, administer first aid
-
Practice safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, co-workers, and the general public.
Required Knowledge & Skills

At least 16 years of age

Experience: Have experience working with children in some capacity.

Ability to communicate in Spanish strongly preferred.

Maintain current First aid and CPR certifications. Hood River Parks and Recreation District will provide training if necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old by hire date

Experience working with youth and adults preferred

Must pass a criminal background check
